Grundon already monitors the groundwater levels and quality around the site. This would continue throughout the development and the results shared with Hampshire County Council.
Groundwater flows from South to North and North West with flows towards Ebblake Bog SSSI which is dependent on the maintenance of these flows.
Average extraction depth is 8.5 metres. Extraction is limited to above the maximum recorded groundwater level, except when creating the water areas in the southern section of the site.
The proposed method of working would not have an impact on groundwater flows or quality.
The principle risk to groundwater relates to the refuelling of quarry vehicles. This activity would only be undertaken in the processing area compound on a concrete pad with an interceptor drain system to capture any spills.
